Coffee Setup Guide

Descale the La Specialista Arte Evo

The Arte Evo uses a scale-sensitive thermoblock, so periodic descaling keeps flow, temperature and shot timing stable. The machine has a descale indicator - run the cycle when it prompts or on your manual's schedule.

How often

When the machine's descale indicator lights, or on the interval in your manual - check your manual for the exact trigger for your water hardness.

Soft water Roughly every 2-3 months or when prompted - check your manual
Medium/hard water Roughly monthly or when prompted - check your manual

Check your manual: Descaler ratios, cycle steps and reset procedure vary by model and firmware - always check your manual before descaling, and follow De'Longhi's instructions over any general guidance here.

Step by step

  1. Empty the drip tray and water tank, then fill the tank with fresh water mixed with De'Longhi EcoDecalk or an equivalent espresso-machine descaler at the ratio stated in your manual.
  2. Place a large container under the group and steam wand, then run the machine's descale cycle following the on-machine prompts.
  3. When the solution is used up, refill the tank with clean fresh water and run one or more full rinse cycles to flush all descaler from the boiler and lines.
  4. Wipe down the group, portafilter and drip tray, and reset the descale indicator if your model requires it.
