Espresso accessories to avoid
Most wasted money on espresso accessories is not a bad product - it is a good product in the wrong size. Here is what goes wrong most often, and how to check before you buy.
The size trap
Baskets, portafilters, shower screens and group-specific replacement parts require the correct group size. Tampers and distributors may be 1mm under. There is no adapter between the 51, 54 and 58mm groups.

Authored from the machine specifications and compatibility constraints in the passports we maintain - each item links to the machines it applies to.
-
Assuming 'auto grind, dose & tamp' means zero adjustment - you still must dial the 45 grind settings for each coffee, and the single-wall baskets punish stale beans or the wrong grind with sour or bitter shots.
Applies to: Breville Oracle Jet
-
Assuming any '51mm' bottomless or spouted portafilter will fit — the group ears look proprietary, so a same-diameter part can still fail to lock in.
Applies to: Chefman CafeMaster Pro
-
Assuming any '51mm' portafilter or basket will fit - the ear/lug family is unclear and third-party portafilters may not lock in.
Applies to: De'Longhi COM530M
-
Assuming any '54mm' bottomless or spouted portafilter will lock into the proprietary chefman-54 group - verify the ear/lug geometry first.
Applies to: Chefman Crema Deluxe
-
Assuming any '54mm' portafilter fits - buying a third-party bottomless or spouted 54mm portafilter (e.g. a Breville-54 model) that won't lock into the chefman-54 group.
Applies to: Chefman Crema Supreme
-
Assuming any 51mm bottomless or spouted portafilter will fit - the proprietary ears mean it often won't lock in; verify fitment first.
Applies to: Chefman CraftBrew
-
Assuming the built-in grinder cannot go fine enough without first adjusting the internal (upper) burr setting, then over-relying on the outer 30-step dial.
Applies to: Breville Barista Pro
-
Assuming the portafilter is a standard size - it is a non-standard 51mm two-lug DeLonghi group, so most 54mm and 58mm accessories, tampers and baskets will not fit.
Applies to: De'Longhi Stilosa
-
Buying 53/54mm or 51mm accessories by mistake - it's a 58mm commercial group.
Applies to: Gaggia Classic Evo Pro
-
Buying 54mm or 58mm accessories - the La Specialista Touch is a 51mm group.
Applies to: De'Longhi La Specialista Touch
-
Buying 54mm or 58mm accessories - this is a 51mm machine and larger baskets/tampers/portafilters won't fit.
Applies to: De'Longhi Dedica Duo
-
Buying 54mm or 58mm accessories because they're everywhere online - this machine is 51mm, so the wrong size simply won't seat.
Applies to: De'Longhi Linea Classic
How to buy safely

- Buy from your machine's own accessory pages, where every listing is graded for fit.
