Before buying milk jugs

Does any 54mm milk jug fit the Breville Barista Touch?

No. The nominal size is only the first check. Model-specific locking geometry, basket depth, mounting pattern, or clearance may also matter. Some 54mm IMS and Normcore baskets are listed as fitting the Barista Touch but explicitly note they do NOT fit Breville's 'JET' model, so a basket that fits the BES880 is not interchangeable with a JET machine, and a part sold specifically for the JET or Barista Touch Impress (BES881) line is likewise not guaranteed to fit the BES880 - always look for BES880 or Barista Touch named in the listing.

Is a milk jug the first upgrade to buy?

Not automatically. The Breville Barista Touch's stored upgrade order starts with filter basket; fix grinder, basket, dose, or maintenance issues before adding optional tools.
